Paris, France: Large-scale demonstrations continue throughout France, with reports of hundreds of black-clad violent protestors infiltrating the protests, seeking clashes with police, damaging property, shooting fireworks, and setting fires. Police in riot gear have responded with tear gas, water cannons, and targeted police actions to deter further violence. Avoid demonstrations and areas with significant police activity. Monitor local media for updates. http://ow.ly/eAR850NqAse

Trying thru France 24 tv news reports to imagine the influence this, if happening so vehemently then, would have had on my Feb 23 RS Best of Paris. We were early and lucky in our timing. ab

King Charles was supposed to go to France for a state visit. It's been postponed by request of the Elysee Palace.

My brother is in Paris right now. Trains were interrupted yesterday, but everything seems to be Ok now (except maybe garbage collection?). Obviously, YMMV depending on where you are in Paris and rest of France...

This is the BBC News article about the postponement of the state visit-

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-65064510

This is not about any specific threat- it is more about being inappropriate at this time, and out of what could fairly be called an "abundance of caution"- albeit it will be an embarrassment to the French state, and very unfortunate.

I think the article is very fair and reasonable, about what is currently happening in France, not full of hyperbole.

The optics of Macron having a state dinner for the King of England at this time couldn't have been worse.

A head of state of certain countries may pass but absolutely not a royal of any kind.

The way the retirement proposal was pushed through is already considered imperious.
