Opportunities for Swimming in the Adriatic Sea - update

We received an informational email from Rick Steve Tours last Sunday regarding our upcoming tour The Best of the Adriatic starting October 14th. In the info was a paragraph about the opportunities for swimming in the Adriatic Sea. I have been googling myself crazy looking at average temperatures for mid to late October, trip reports during that time frame and best times to visit Slovenia, Bosnia and Croatia. The information I found leads me to believe the Adriatic Sea would be best to just look at not swim in.

I have packed, taken out, packed again, taken out and packed again a swimsuit. For those of you who have been to these three countries during the time frame of mid to late October would you advise taking a swimsuit? Is the Adriatic Sea that swimmable in mid to late October?

Last year the high was never over 72 for that time period.

What do you consider 'swimming' weather?

" The information I found leads me to believe the Adriatic Sea would be best to just look at not swim in"

That would be my conclusion.

But just how much room does it take ?

I just returned from swimming in Croatia two days ago. Air temperature was "okay" water was cool. In 2 weeks its probably going to be very marginal. October is really late for beach vacations but maybe not for other activities in the region. I would return to Montenegro and Bosnia in October (actually been to both on October) in a heartbeat.

I would decide the day before, only a ten day forecast is going to have any value, and a swim suit takes no space really.
The sea is slow to warm (in May it has always been frigid) but it may be slow to cool also--I would consider midOctober to have a slight chance. Swim suits are also optional in many parts of Croatia, lol.

I just looked at my pictures from October 1-6, 2023 on Korčula and in Dubrovnik. We are swimming both places and wearing sleeveless dresses and the men shorts.
Mr. E - Preko is further north so a bit cooler in October.

We did that tour last September. Many from our group went swimming at Korčula but neither the air or water temps were warm enough for me to get in the water. Unless you have a burning desire to swim in the Adriatic Sea, I would say you could leave the suit at home.

So much good information! Thank you-thank you!
The swim suit will be staying home. It is not an Itsy-Bitsy-Teeny-Weeny-Yellow-Polka-Dot-Bikini but more like a Smart Car cover. I will pass on any bathing suit optional beaches of Croatia so as not to offend the locals. Love to swim but now at the age of 75 I am a bit of a sissy la-la with water temperature. I was so on the fence as what to do about packing a swimsuit but thanks to all of you my decision has been made.

I just looked at the picture of our group in the water at Korcula, and it was only 15 of the 28 that swam (all younger than me - 69). I love your funny description of your suit! Do you have Sanel as your guide?
