October weather in Cappadocia

Hello, I will be on the Best of Turkey tour in early October. Has anyone been in Cappadocia in October? I am wondering what the weather is like then so I can pack accordingly. I am also planning on a balloon ride there. For those who have done that, would you suggest a heavier jacket? I hate to make a winter puffy because it takes up so much room. I am thinking perhaps the balloon ride and evenings in Cappadocia (Mustafapasa) will be cold. Thank you!

My tour and balloon ride were in May. I had thought I might need warner clothes specifically for the balloon ride. But I did not. Whatever was fine for that early hour of the morning was also fine during the actual balloon ride.

The thing about the balloon rides is that there can't/won't be much wind. So it won't be cold from the wind. I went on one in Egypt and the air temp was 45 degrees, but I was not cold. I brought a stocking cap and wore a light down coat, but didn't need either one. The burner is very hot so there is also some warmth from that. The top of my head was toasty!!

We were there on RS tour the first two weeks of October. Probably in that area around 1/8 and 10/11 ish. It was very hot. Just check the weather forecast before you leave to see what is expected.
As much as we wanted to do the balloon ride, we and several tour members opted out due to insurance not covering such activities.

I was there last October on the tour, and although I did not take the balloon ride, those who did dressed in layers. They returned as the rest of us were having breakfast--it's a very early morning activity! It was comfortably warm during the day but not scorching, and at night I was glad I had my warm jacket, as the temps dropped sharply after sunset. Think desert environment.

Ponygirl, that’s exactly why I asked my question. Desert climate. I was in Jordan in February and although warm enough during the daytime, once the sun started to go down I was freezing. I wore a light down jacket but really wished I had had a heavier puffer with me.

Every policy is different and mine did cover being a passenger in a hot air balloon. I checked with them explicitly because the policy said it did not cover high altitude sports or adventure sports. The balloon ride was not considered either of these by my provider, so it was covered. It pays to ask an insurance carrier specifically about the balloon ride.
