I am flying into Milan and spending 2 nights there before taking a train to Varenna for the start of the tour on Sunday the 9th.

Hello Judy B!
I did this RS tour in 2006. In Milan, I stayed at the Hotel Star. Well located; close to the train station (15 minutes walking) and the Duomo. Instead taking the train to Varenna, I opted to take the metro to Como and then the ferry to Varenna. Beautiful afternoon transit on Lake Como.

Hope you have a great trip, Judy! I'm leaving for the Best of Italy that starts Sept. 25th in less than a week, and I can't wait! But so much left to do!

Have a wonderful time! Will you add on days before or after the tour? Where do you fly into/out of?
I am spending 2 nights before in Milan and flying home on the last morning out of Rome. Had to save some vacation time for the holidays.
