Just curious why RS doesn’t do tours during this time. Ok, I get November and December as people are likely getting ready for the holidays. But why Jan, Feb & March?
We just signed up with the other RS (Road Scholar) for a trip to Mexico in January because we need to escape our Alaskan winters.
Best of Sicily has November and December departures. I think other tours do. I always see tours that mention Christmas Markets.
There are definitely March tours, because I've taken 2 in Italy in March, and I think some started in late Feb. This year's are taken off after they are past, so that's why you don't see any now. And I did the Munich, Salzburg, and Vienna tour in December.
Ah ok, I thought I had remembered at least seeing some of the city tours during those months.
I also did MSV in Dec. And, I always look for Thanksgiving week tours - start of Christmas markets kinda coincides for pre- or post-tour visits. I would like to see a few more tours in Nov/Dec. Ah, looks like Sicily is offered in December, too. Sadly, no January.
We have gone on RS tours Thanksgiving week In Paris and London. Also did Rome between Christmas and New Years. City tours seem to run that time of year.
We did the Sicily tour in mid-February, so it starts at least then. It was still cold enough to need jackets and sweaters (locals wore puffy down coats) but doable.
Why? Yeah it's too cold and dark in most of Europe, And most Americans' vacation time is later. So RS probably knows the demand isn't there for winter tours. Did they not used to have a Christmas market tour, a long time ago?
Stan, do you feel that the cold in February put a damper on your trip?
No, it was comfortable enough ('50s during the day). But I would guess March would have been perfect.
On the tours page, you can click on "Search Tours by departure date" and then input the month(s) you are interested in. It will bring up all the scheduled tours.
Thank you Carol, I did not know that!
