My Way Tour anyone do the Alpine one?

I am doing the Alpine My Way Tour this coming May/June. Has anyone suggestions for me on the Alpine Tour?

I am choosing a my way tour so I can do things at my own pace but will miss out on “special group activities” which are always a highlight. With only one day at each location I feel pressured to pick the “best” activity. Yes, I will extend my stay before and after.

I would appreciate any insight from those who have chosen a my way tour.

We took this tour in June 2025 and enjoyed it very much. Mostly we did things on our own but agree with Carrie that there are opportunities to do things with other members of the tour group. For example, the cable car to the top of Schilthorn was going to close the day after we arrived in Switzerland, so our tour coordinator dropped all of us interested in going up directly at the cable car station when we arrived. Many of us ended up having dinner together in Murren afterwards.

There was also an optional group dinner and 2 group Happy Hours, in addition to the first night meet-and-greet. These were put together by the tour coordinator, so all you have to do is show up.

Thank you both so much for responding. I am looking forward to the “my way” experience.

Since I travel solo and am experiencing the “joys/difficulties of getting older I thought this would be a great fit. Like Carrie I am confident in traveling alone but will appreciate the bus ride from stop to stop. The only downside that I see is the short amount of time spent ar each destination.

There does not seem to be any reservations that I need to plan for before I leave home.

Thank you again.

When you sign up for the tour, you will receive your first and last hotel so you can add extra nights there if you like.

The one advance reservation that was recommended was for Neuschwanstein castle. I did not see the interior, but after hearing other tour members describe it, I would if I had to do it over again. Book the first English tour of the day to avoid crowds later in the day.

We arrived in Chamonix around noon and many of us made reservations on the way for the Aiguille du Midi cable car as it was a nice clear day. So, it was 1.5 days there. The second day I took the train and cable car to see the glacier.

Two full days in the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

If you get an early start, you can see a lot in one day. And since you’re going in May/June, that will be an early sunrise time. So, you will have time to get out and explore before breakfast if you want.

Oh I think reservations were also recommended for Eagles Nest from Salzburg. A few tour members did that.

I arrived in Salzburg a few days early and made advance reservations for the Bob’s Sound of Music tour.

I also had reservations for the Panorama Tour trip to Hallstatt.

I trusted my instincts and was not discouraged by those who say you need to spend the night to enjoy it. We were the first tour bus that arrived during a weekday and it was a very pleasant few hours. If it’s a choice between not seeing a place and seeing a place for a few hours, I will often go with the day trip.

If you think of any questions during you planning, I’m happy to help if I can.

I think deciding to have a My Way Tour is a great idea! It gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace and choose the experiences that interest you the most. My advice is don’t put too much pressure on yourself to see or do everything there— sometimes the unexpected discoveries and simply enjoying the scenery can remain the best memories. You can always join local tours or activities along the way if you feel like you need a bit of company. Extending your stay before and after is also a wonderful idea. Enjoy every moment of the Alps, and remember, it’s your adventure, so make it your own! 😊🏔️
