A surprisingly small number of tour people read/post on the forum. I'm about to take my 8th and think there were only 2-3 times I found a person taking the same tour here on the forum.

LIZinPA is right. I was surprised to find few people on our RS tours who were even aware of the TV show, forum or website, and many who knew of the tours only by word of mouth. But don't worry. You'll have plenty of opportunity to get acquainted during the tour.

Hi lamb616,
I’m looking at this tour next June/July (solo traveler). I know there’s a Facebook group too, if you want to try to reach out that way?
Are you going to do some pre-tour traveling as well? I’m trying to decide which dates to pick. Not sue if the two different start days impact any sites being closed during the tour? I think one starts on a wed and the other on a Monday?
I fell in love with the Dolomites last summer on my first RS tour, best of Italy. I’m excited to tour the different areas of the alps. Will this be your first tour?
Ciao,
Shawn

Fantastico! It’s so interesting to see the wide range of landscapes across Italy. You definitely get the more Tyrol feel in the buildings around the Dolomites. And beautiful in a different way from Tuscany, Umbria, and the west coast.

On the best of Italy tour stop there, we were not sure whether to try our newly learned Italian phrases, or German (which I don’t know, so it was English + gestures). LOL most everyone spoke English, but I did end up with a whole boiled egg instead of a small roll that I wanted with my (vegan) salad in Bolzano!

Good idea about your pre and post plans. It’s fun to add on since it’s such a long trip over there. I may start in Venice and then train to Salzburg an extra day, then possibly at the end, bus to Annecy and train to Paris for a few days to fly home. I am enjoying connecting with others during planning and/or reminiscing.

Ciao!

I would really like to stay longer before/after the tour but unfortunately we have jobs that want us not to be gone so long.

I completely understand job restrictions. That’s why my travel is only in the summer break, but I would prefer a cooler time of year! So…. I booked my alpine trip today… June 21. Have fun preparing!

My wife and I have signed up for June 19, our first RS tour. We are going a week early to travel around Bavaria. Planning of spending a couple of days in Lausanne at the end. Really looking forward it.

Our 7/10/23 tour is just about filled (1 spot left). Anybody here joining us? I need to figure out what kind of clothes to pack for this trip!

I did this tour in August this past summer. I loved it! I was a solo traveler but made friends with most everyone on the tour. Prior to leaving, I saw a post about tandem paragliding, which sounded great, so I paid to do it from Mürren. My daughter thought I was crazy, and for a time, I thought so too. It was the best part of my trip. I wasn’t the least bit nervous and the flight was wonderful! At one point my pilot gave the the control and I did some basic turns. It is totally quiet up there as you become part of the wind. The only time I felt a bit nauseous was on landing. We had to perform a 360 degree maneuver to line up to land, and my stomach wasn’t happy 😃. The landing was fine but I did land on my butt.

I really enjoyed the freedom to do what ever I wanted. I was always able to join other tour members on hikes, so never felt alone.

I highly recommend this tour.

I did this trip 3rd week of June, 2019. Great weather, itinerary and fun. Pre-tripped in Hallstatt with visit to Bechesgarten and Bad Ischel area and post- trip was in Vevey and surrounding towns.

Also review prior years’ Travel Albums to get ideas on what to do and where you might be staying at each stop.

I’m on the Sept 4-15 My way Alpine Europe tour. I’d love to meet others in the group and see what you’re planning for each stop. My dream has been to see Switzerland and the Dolomites and I can’t wait! It will be me and my husband traveling to Europe for the first time.

Id love to have a FB group with all who are going this year to not only share plans/ideas beforehand but as each group travels, they can post pics & updates for the rest of us. If anyone would be interested, shoot me a message here.
