For those that have previously been on the My Way Alpine Europe Tours, I'm wondering how busy or not busy with crowds the little towns were in the months of May, June or July? I know traveling to the bigger city destinations, June, July and August are the busiest times to go.
We went on this tour end of May 2022. It was a perfect time to go. Not super busy, spring was everywhere and the weather cool. Even had to buy an extra sweater in Salzburg which is much more enjoyable than heat for husband and I. This was a trip of a lifetime. Enjoyed every single part of it. Especially Switzerland. Enjoy!
I also went on this tour in May 2022 and will echo what Patrice said above. I never felt that things were crowded or overly busy. It was a great time to go! I had such a lovely time that I've considered doing this tour again.
The earlier you can go, the less crowded it will be.
I went June 2019 and Salzburg felt a bit crowded but not terrible and Alps villages across the countries were not crowded, with most hiking trails and huts open but not all. I would probably go back again in either June or October.
Perhaps the best tour ever, but I went in September and it was wonderfully NOT crowded. Best weather as well, had only
1 drizzle day in Lauterbrunnen. Would do this one again for sure!
We went the end of July 2022. The craziest part of the trip was getting to Salzburg before the tour started. Several airports were very busy with cancelled and delayed flights, which was due to not having enough employees after Covid. The actual tour allows you to choice between being around crowds or not. There was a parade in Fussen, which attracted people while we were there. (We enjoyed the festive environment.) The areas around Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles did have crowds, but we didn't go to them. Most of the trip, you are in small mountain towns and hiking in the mountains. We had great weather and enjoyed the outdoors, which is what we were hoping for. For being a summer trip, it wasn't like going to the big city destinations. i.e. Rome, Paris, London, etc.
