Has anyone added a tour to Moscow onto their tour that ends at St Petersburg?
I am going in May on the tour that ends in St Petersburg. After the tour, we are going to Moscow, though not on a tour. We are using the travel agent that Rick Steves recommends in the tour FAQ for pre- and post-tour arrangements in Russia. She is assisting us with train tickets, transfers, hotel and a Kremlin tour in Moscow - and has been most helpful!
We used Dan Petrov while touring around Moscow. What a great guy all around...so knowledgeable and personable! You can find him on www.toursbylocals.com and also on Facebook
I was in Moscow in September, but as part of a different tour company. It's an easy train ride from St. Petersburg (via Saispan fast train), and it was well worth a few days. There is so much to see in Moscow, that you won't be disappointed. I found it to be well worth the time, and if you have a good local guide, that will help immensely. Hotel suggestion -- there's a Marriott Courtyard that's only a few blocks from Red Square that was comfortable and reasonably priced (and with a good breakfast buffet).
several years ago we took a Gate 1 river cruise from St. Petersburg to Moscow after the Rick Steve's tour. We stayed at a Best Western built for the Olympics that didn't happen that was near a subway line.
I used Viator for four days worth of tours in Moscow, each a different guide and all went very well.
