This site is on our April Paris & HOF tour. I was just wondering if anyone knows how completed it is?
Hi Tammy - it was on our road trip last year that never happened so I can't give first hand knowledge.
Their website with lots of pics is at https://www.guedelon.fr/en/
I went on this fabulous tour in 2014 and the construction was under way and I would say it was 1/3 finished. Maybe someone else who’s been on this tour later than 2014 can give an opinion. I would guess that no work has been done during the pandemic.
You will enjoy it!
Looking at their Instagram page the building is finished and now are working on the interiors. It is on my wishlist!
Nigel, thank you for the link! It's been on my wish list for years but after watching the cute video it's time to actually put it on my itinerary for 2023.
I have wanted to see it so much, that it is a major reason why I choose this particular RS tour. Well, that and the Mont…….
Thank you for your replies!
Which departure are you on? I'm signed up for the one that leaves April 15th.
We are on the April 12th departure, darn, we just miss you and forum meet ups are so fun!
My husband and I took the Paris & HOF tour in 2018, and I'd guess that 3/4 of the exterior was complete at the time. We loved this tour and Guedelon was definitely a highlight - exceeded our expectations! Have a wonderful trip!
Tammy, we took this tour in 2019, and the structure was mostly complete. The local guide said they hoped to be done within another year or so.
Guédelon was the main reason we took this tour, as well. I thought we didn't spend nearly enough time there. We did a guided tour with the local guide, but didn't have enough free time to wander around and check out the artisans' workshops.
But that's so often the case; I think every single RS tour we've ever taken, our reaction was: "Not long enough!"
We're on the April 12 tour. Guedelon is supposed to be completed by next year.
Thanks Dan, looks like we are on the same tour! Are you the Dan on the tour roster that lives in Auburn?
Non, je m'applle Danilo.
But I also go by Dan or Danny (which my wife calls me). Other people call me things that I won't repeat here.
