Does anyone recommend the North loop over the South loop? How long approximately is each route if stay on board? One website says 2.5 hours but doesn't state for the North loop.
My concern is getting off and waiting for another bus to come around and hopefully a seat is available. Plus, I have a small bladder! Hopefully most stops have restrooms. Did anyone experience a lot of traffic during day in major cities in order to get back to cruise port in time. Thank you for any input
We were on Malta and Gozo for a couple weeks a few years ago and I can't remember seeing any HOHO busses. I can't imagine them working at all in Valletta. The streets are too narrow and crowded. The city is walkable, if hilly. On a port call, you could skip the HOHO and make a nice, full day out of seeing the Upper Barrakka gardens, St. John's Co-Cathedral (don't miss this one--it's amazing + there's a Caravaggio painting), the National War Museum and/or the Lascaris War Rooms. Or, you could also substitute the Malta at War Museum for another of the museums by taking the ferry that runs from Valletta to Vittoriosa every 15 or 20 minutes. All of this is easily walkable and/or ferry accessible from the cruise port. eCabs Malta is quick and really cheap if you'd rather not walk, but you could get around fine without it.
