Lisbon things to do NOT on RS tour?

For folks who have taken the Heart of Portugal tour, was wondering what things you did in your free time that were not officially part of the tour. We are headed there next week.
Thanks,
Michael

We had a day in Lisbon prior to the tour. We took a tour to Sintra and Cascais. You can do it by train and/or bus I think but having a car pick us up and a guide really was a plus. Also, on free time we took a food tour with Culinary Backstreets. Ours was Song of the Sea which I believe they still have. That was terrific. Be careful walking in Lisbon, there is not a foot of level pavement and trips and falls are common. This was one of our favorites out of 12 RS tours.

We also did a private tour of Sintra and Cascais. They were both well worth a visit. Our driver/guide got us back just in time for the opening meeting for the tour.

If you are interested in Sintra and Cascais but not a private tour. We did an excellent small group tour there with Lisbon Riders.

If you have a few hours, pay a visit to the Gulbenkian Museum. Varied and interesting collection, not a huge museum, pretty good cafeteria, too.

If it’s dinner on your own in Evora, try to get reservations for the small but wonderful Botequim da Mouraria. I thought it was the best restaurant at which I ate in Portugal.

The National Tile Museum is special if you like the Portugal tiles on buildings and in the crafts. There is a tiled church attached to the museum. A bus along the waterfront will get you there.

The tile museum was one of my favorite things in Lisbon. We took a Uber there as public transportation was not that great from where we were staying.

Lisbon has a great aquarium that is easily reached by public transportation

We did a food tour, Eating Europe in Lisbon, wonderful introduction to the City. We also came in 3 days early so we could stay in Sintra. Of our 12 RS tours this was one of my least favorites but then everyone has different opinions and most people seem to like Portugal.

We went on this tour last April. We spent our extra days in Paris before the tour, so didn’t have a ton of time in Lisbon. Several people in our group went to Sintra and it seemed like a good choice (weather was rainy and they still loved it).

We really enjoyed the tile museum. We also did a food tour with "Inside Lisbon" and it was very good. It was a great introduction to the city and their food. We got to Lisbon 3 days early to enjoy the city independently before the tour started.
