Good morning, 1st time posting in forum , will be in Croatia-Bosnia-Mont for 20 days in summer July.
Itinerary is pretty much set BUT more research has me thinking of driving from ZAGREB to POSTOJNA CAVES- approx 2 hrs
are the caves worth the visit? the distance is not bad, after the CAVES drive down to P LAKES.
any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated.
Well, this is always an "in the eye of the beholder" type of question....
If you like caves and rock formations, then both Postojna & Skocjan Caves are
worth exploring. You could probably do both in the same day, but not sure if
you'd then be able to get to Plitvice after that.
You might consider adding a day or two in Ljubljana on to your itinerary since
you're pretty much driving right past it from Zagreb. You could do a day trip to
Postojna, then depart the next day, stop at Skocjan, and then on to Plitvice.
I went to the Postojna Caves with a half-day tour the day after I arrived at Ljubljana. Yes, it’s definitely worth it, and I have been in other caves. The Predjama castle was included in the half-day tour. It’s very close to the cave, so I would stop there briefly, also.
I think the cave tickets are timed tickets, so check if you need to purchase it ahead of time.
