We are planning to book a "Best of Germany, Austria & Switzerland in 14 Days Tour." We have traveled to several countries in Europe before and have always been cautious to get a room with a private shower and WC/toilet.
What should we expect on the "Best of Germany, Austria & Switzerland in 14 Days Tour?"

Hi, Rich. The GAS tour has no shared baths! Hotel rooms without private bath and toilet are now rare on Rick Steve's tours and increasingly rare in Europe, as many hotels have shoehorned a small bath unit into rooms that did not always have them. You won't always know in advance whether you will have a bath tub, shower stall, or combination, as that's a feature that can vary from hotel to hotel and room to room.
