Here are the post-tour questionnaire questions

We recently received the post-tour questionnaire sent to everyone who takes a RS tour. At the start of it and on every page it says "Once you select "Save & Continue," you cannot go back and change your answers." The problem I have with that is since you don't know in advance what will be asked page by page so it isn't clear until you've finished the survey where the best place is to put some comments you might want to make

I thought people might appreciate knowing in advance what will be on each page so here they are (blank lines mean a new page)

Tell us about your overall tour experience
What was your favorite "wow" moment from your tour?

Please rate your tour guide on the following criteria (check boxes)
Provide any additional comments about your guide

Please rate your hotels (check boxes for each hotel)
Provide any additional comments about your hotels

Please rate your included meals (check boxes)
Provide any additional comments about your meals

How likely are you to recommend a Rick Steves Tour to a friend or family member? (check boxes)
How likely are you to book another tour with Rick Steves at some point in the future? (check boxes)
Do you have any more comments about your tour?

I miss the old tour review format, and I know other RSE travelers do, as well. Every now and then someone posts an example here on the Forum.

One of the most frustrating things about the “new” format is the limited number of characters allowed in a response. It can be quite a struggle rewriting, condensing, and then deciding which relevant observations to leave out.

We’ve received our review forms for our recent Portugal tour, but will wait until we get home to tackle them. It was a very good tour, but I do have some comments and suggestions that will have to be pruned. Ditto for the Basque Country tour the last full day of which was today.

John did you call or email the RS Office about your concerns?

Yes, I agree with this. I have had to carry over comments into the final "more comments" section regarding some concerns I had in a particular category.

@Claudia, Rick used to say that he read every evaluation. I'm not sure if that is still correct but if it is, there are things I want him to read specifically and not filtered thru people in the office or collated in a list. I want him to know that as a veteran of his tours I liked/did not like such and such. The issue of not being able to go back in the eval has been brought up ever since they changed over to this format.

I always fill these out, but I’m so disappointed that much of the information isn’t posted in the tour reviews. Back in the day, the reviews provided a lot more information that was useful for planning upcoming tours. Now (to me) they read more like promotional material. Thanks to those (like Jane & Pam) who write trip reports that give more details.

I agree with Patty. There’s more information, recommendations, etc., currently found on the forum in regards to specific RS tours than what you find in the reviews. How many times do you need to read “It was a wonderful tour” to know it was a wonderful tour? I would like to know more of why it was or maybe if it didn’t meet someone’s expectations.

To follow up on this post, I just got my tour evaluation form. For those wondering why there aren't more reviews posted on the RS website, the very first page of the survey allows the person to choose not to share:

To help other travelers learn more about our tours, we will share your overall impressions and 'wow' moment (along with your first name, city, state, and tour date) on our website. We value your privacy, so if you do NOT want your answers published on
our website, please check the box below.

Since you can't go back in the survey and change your mind about anything, I suspect many tick that box out of caution. Even so, I agree the answers that do get shared do not have what I would want to know about taking a particular tour. Good thing you can ask for opinions in this forum, the word limit is more generous here :)
