For those who have taken this tour recently did you go into the Pantheon with the tour group or do we need to get tickets and go on our own. I have taken this tour before and we did visit the Pantheon with group. I am taking my daughter in October and I see you need tickets now. Thanks for any info.
I took this tour Sept 2022. Our group did visit the Pantheon as a group and the guide had made the reservation and provided the tickets.
Worth mentioning, there have been changes recently that will require you to purchase a ticket at all times (previously it has only been a ticket required on weekends, and the tickets were no cost)
The fee started only in July, so someone on here may be able to comment, but you might ask the RS office for details.
Best to call the RS office and ask so you don’t purchase a ticket that is included on the tour.
I took the Heart of Italy tour this June 2023. The tour group took care of Pantheon tickets. We went there as a group. The local guide took care of the tickets for us.
Definitely check with Rick Steves. We also took the Heart of Italy tour in June 2023 but it did not include a tour of the Pantheon. We used the RS guide on our phones and toured it during downtime while in Rome.
You'll get at least 15 group sightseeing events — at no extra cost!
Here's what you'll see and do on our Heart of Italy tour:
Ancient Rome walking tour Colosseum Roman Forum Pantheon (when available) Evening walk through Rome including Trevi Fountain Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel Volterra walking tour Guarnacci Etruscan Museum Alabaster workshop Wine tasting Countryside visit and lunch Orientation for "vacation" day in the Cinque Terre Renaissance Florence walking tour Florence's Accademia (Michelangelo's David) Uffizi Gallery

Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Italy
We'll have a get-acquainted meeting at 3 p.m. at our hotel in Rome. After an orientation walk through our neighborhood, we'll learn about the city's transportation system. Then we'll enjoy a fountain-splashing, dolce vita trek through the heart of Rome, soaking up the city's evening ambience at the classy Piazza Navona, Baroque Trevi Fountain, and the remarkably preserved, 2,000-year-old Pantheon before enjoying our first Italian dinner together at a favorite restaurant.
Unless it is closed to the public, the Pantheon is an 'included' item.
We just returned from this tour yesterday. Our group did NOT visit the Pantheon. There was something going on in the city, and something else to do with the ticket reservation system. In fact, our time in Rome was all mixed around from the tour description. If the tickets are free (or small cost), I would reserve them anyway, just in case.
Enjoy the trip, we certainly did!
