Have you ever used Turkish Airlines?

Have you used Turkish Airlines? Are you at all worried about going to Turkey in the aftermath of the earthquake?

Two very separate questions.

There are lots of big fans of Turkish Airlines here (myself included). One of the world's great airlines IMHO.

As to visiting in the aftermath of the earthquake: depends on where in Turkey (a large country) you are going. Some say the country should focus on relief and not tourism, other maintain that the last thing Turkey needs right now is another jolt to their economy caused by a sudden drop in tourism, and visitors help contribute to recovery in a small way by going there and spending money.

I'd certainly avoid going to southeast Turkey now (that's nothing new). Where most tourists go, I would not expect much (if any) disruption due to the earthquake.

We’ve used Turkish Air and like them. Would you go to LA if San Francisco had a devastating earthquake? Southeast Turkey has been a place to avoid for many years. It’s a big country.

Turkish Airlines is great.

But if you're going to Europe, there are often shorter flight durations than making a connection in Turkey. Sometimes it makes having to spend a night in Istanbul to return.

Answer to the first question: yes.
Answer to the second question: No, but I never wanted to go to that part of Turkey anyway.

Yes, I used them on the way to my RS Turkey tour in 2011. I was impressed with the plane, my seat, the food and the flight attendants and would use them again!

It was a wonderful change from my United flight from SFO to wherever I connected with Turkish Air (I think Vienna). United had a very old unpleasant plane, and the food and service were very disappointing.

I've flown with Turkish Airlines several times and agree that it is a great airline. I thought their food was good too.

We flew Turkish Airlines last year from Porto, Portugal to Istanbul for our Best of Turkey tour last year. Check-in in Porto was a bit slow and as we upgraded our tickets from economy we had to leave the check in counter and move over to their ticket counter. But they let’s come back to check in at the next open counter after we purchased the upgrade. The food on the flight was fantastic!

Good luck.
