And I like booking.com for research as well as booking.

I was in Orlando once and stayed at a hotel on International Drive. Many of these hotels offer shuttle service to Universal Studios.

I did go to Universal Studios and it was fun and very large.

Look into staying on site. While pricey, you can use the shuttle and get early entry. I found not needing the car offset the hotel price

Go on Booking.com and look for any of the properties on International Drive in Orlando.

The customer ratings tell you what people think of the properties. I used to stay at the LaQuinta property there--very nice place for a LQ.

If you are interested in going to Universal Studios, stay in one of their on-site hotels for the sake of convenience and avoiding lines getting into the rides, entering the park an hour before opening to the public and other perks as well.

I also recommend staying on site for the convenience and early entry. We stayed at what was, at least at the time, the cheapest property. Cabana Beach. I really liked it, it had a great vibe and the pools were nice.

Our family stayed at the Universal Portofino resort many times. Love the atmosphere, larger rooms and good onsite restaurant.
The Hard Rock rooms were not as nice and the hotel had a loud vibe in our opinion.
They have opened some more inexpensive options since our last visit, but they may not include all of the "onsite" benefits.
Have fun!

Cabana Beach was a really fun hotel. We loved the black and white '50s commercials on the big screens in the eating area, the shake place, the bowling alley on the mezzanine floor, the Jack LaLanne fitness studio (amazing) as well as the diner and the decor straight out of 1961. We'd go back in a minute, even if we didn't have tickets to Universal Studios. The price was reasonable too.
