Greece Tour

Hi!
I am on the September 5th tour and I am looking for others that are as well. Looking forward to meeting you. For those of you that have taken this tour before, do you have any recommendations on the best way to visit the Greek islands? Cruise, independent, or escorted?

Thanks!

I have not taken any of Rick Steves tours but I have been to Greece twice independently. It is very easy to take ferries from one island to another. Some of the islands have flights to and from Athens as well.
Which islands are you considering? Our favorites ar Paros and Crete,

Thanks for the reply. I basically have 5 days to travel to whatever island I want. Since I've never been to Greece I was thinking about going to Santorini. However, I am traveling solo and I'm trying to keep my expenses down. Is it doable to stay on a cheaper island and just visit Santorini or should I stay there?

My wife and I took RS Greece tour several years ago. You will visit Hydra, one of the Greek islands as part of your tour. It is beautiful. We have not been to any of the other islands so I can't comment about that.

My husband and I did the Greek tour in 2016. We flew from Athens to Santorini at the end of the tour - stayed for 3 nights which was great! Stay in Oia - much quieter. We did not rent a car. We used the bus system which worked very well to get us around the island. We did use a taxi to take us to/from the airport to our hotel.

We took the RS Best of Greece tour in 2018 and afterwards flew to Naxos for five days. We stayed at the Hotel Grotta which picked us up from the airport. This is a lovely peaceful island with friendly people. We hired a local guide for a day trip around the island. David, our tour guide from our Best of England tour made the recommendation for this island and we were not disappointed. My only disappointment was not at least seeing Santorini but hopefully that next time!
