We are about half way through our first RS tour of Greece and we are having a wonderful time. We just spent the day on the rock of Monemvasia and it was simply magical! Absolutely glorious southern Greece weather and almost no tourists!! No hordes of tourists of any ethnicity, didn’t see a single selfie stick!
If you haven’t been, put it on your list! I will do a trip report upon our return!
Can't wait to read it!
Sooo glad you are finally on the Greece tour and having a wonderful time! I’ve been waiting to hear how it was going. Can’t wait to read the trip report.
Yes, keep in touch, please.
So glad you're having a great time! I've booked this tour for Sept. 2020. Yes, please do a trip report!
Enjoy what is still our favorite RS tour (of many!). How about those tomatoes!? Still trying to match the many Greek salads we had there, no luck. Looking forward to your report!
Great. I may do the RS tour of Greece some day--I might wait until I retire so that I can do it during shoulder season. I work as a professor, so my travel times are based on breaks in the academic calendar.
So nice to hear that you are enjoying this amazing tour. Thanks for transporting us back. Yes, Greece is wonderful! Looking forward to your report.
diveloonie, One thing that has shied me away from this trip is how much travel time on the bus there seems to be. Has that been a negative?
@Allan
I’m not going to lie, there is a fair amount of bus time. However, we have so far, always done a activity that day, like Mystras on our way to Nafplio, so it doesn’t seem too bad. Frankly, even if you were doing the same itinerary on your own, you would have this driving. The towns are small so there is not much point to staying more than 2 nights as there would be nothing to do for longer period. We are so happy to have a driver for this itinerary too!!! The roads are extremely windy!
I am so glad you're having a great time and look forward to your trip report! Thanks for posting!
Yes, thanks for this post & looking forward to your full trip report! We are thinking of signing up for this trip in the spring. It will be our 3rd RS trip.
Best of Athens/Greece 2018 alum reporting here. I absolutely loved the tour, the food, the quality of the food (and the prices) and all the wonderful sights. So much history in one country - so incredible. I'm hoping to be able to tour Northern Greece at some point.
The more I hear about this tour, the more I'm thinking we need to go.
How much walking/climbing ?? I have moved from being a couch potato to being an elderly couch potato, but Greece has been on my "someday" list since 1965.
@LauraB
Greece is a mountainous country and some of our hotels were built on the hillside so lots of stairs, and some of the ancient sites also have stairs. You can always pass on any site if it is too much. I did not find the tour strenuous at all, but I was the youngest in my tour group at 53. Our most strenuous day was the day the tour started. My husband and I used Rick’s audio guide and did the Athens city walk. Up, down and all around! Plus a few wrong turns!
