My travel buddy and I will be in Greece in Sept for a wedding in Athens followed by a four day cruise to the islands. When we get back from the cruise, we have an open week during which we want to visit Delphi, Meteora and Thessaloniki. We would like suggestions for safe transportation and accommodations between Athens and these destinations, possibly seeing other sites along the way. We will fly back from Thessaloniki to Athens to return to the USA. Any suggestions for a private driver, or a local tour company to work with? I made a similar trek by bus and train in 1980… but I was 50 years younger then! I haven’t found a travel guide for visiting inside the heart of Greece. Thanks.

We had a rental car when we traveled through Greece, so I'm sorry I can't recommend a tour company.

Look at Toursbylocals.com. They have various guides who do one day trips. Some guides also offer multiple day trips.
We have used guides from here all over Europe. Always satisfied and happy with our choices.

I traveled to Greece in 2019. I was on a tour that started in Athens, and arrived in Athens several days prior to the tour.
I found Matt Barrett's Guide to Greece very informative in planning the days we had on our own. I emailed him several times and heard back each time. Check out his website: https://www.greecetravel.com
We used his recommended George the Taxi driver for our transportation from the airport to our hotel in Athens. It was a reliable and safe trip for a couple of unworldly gals!

We did a 2-Day trip to Meteora through this company: https://visitmeteora.travel Our trip was by train. I see they now go by bus. It was an amazing place to visit and the highlight of my entire Greece trip. Our biggest challenge was getting a taxi at night to return us from the train station to our hotel. The hotel told us after the fact to ask them for assistance.
