Got our tour docs, Heart of Portugal!

Whoop! Just got the roster and hotel list for our September Portugal tour!

Our guide is Rafael Pereira; there are 27 people on the tour, one of whom I have interacted with (briefly) on the Forum.

Okay, now this is real! I'm so excited! And terrified. There's so much to do before we go; this is there first of two RSE tours this trip, with quite a bit of "on our own" time added in.

I guess I'd better get to work, huh?

Rafael is a wonderful guide. The tour is awesome as well! Have a terrific time!

I did a Search for him on the Forum, and all comments are good to glowing.

And everyone I know who has taken this tour has raved about it. Ditto for folks who have traveled to Portugal, but not on a RSE tour. We are definitely stoked for a good time.

Jane, you will fall in love with Portugal! I did. Although I enjoyed the one RS tour to the Heart of Italy, what seems like eons ago, independent travel is how I roll most of the time. My second trip to Portugal is also coming up in early October. If you and your husband are still in Portugal from Oct 2-18, maybe we could meet in person for a glass of port and snacks.

Linda, sounds good, but for that time span we'll be in France, the Netherlands, and on the 18th should be waking up in our own bed.

But thanks; we've met up with about a dozen Forum Folk in the past, and have always had a wonderful time.

I studied the tour roster, and we might know two other people, single women who often travel together. I'll have to dig out the roster from our Villages of South England tour to see.

And thanks everyone for your good wishes; hold off a bit on asking for the trip report though Lol, we're not even leaving for a few weeks yet! It's usually Pam nagging for the trip report; looks like she's delegated the task to our other friends this time.

Looking forward to your trip report.

Sadly haven’t been stoked since surfing Steamers Lane in Santa Cruz, CA in 1968.

Hahaha!!! I'm developing a network of helpers so we can dodge and weave thru the forum like smoke.

I dug out the tour roster from 2016, and yes, I'm almost positive they're the same people! Rosters no longer show people's last names, so I can't be completely sure, but the first names and hometowns are the same. What made their traveling together noteworthy is they not only live in different towns, they live in different countries!

I can't wait to see them again; we enjoyed traveling with them.

Hooray four tour rosters. Re: your group list, I've also had repeat tourmates on two different tours a couple years apart. Small world, isn't it? Enjoy the fun of prepping for travel, if you're like me, it involves a lot of visits from the Amazon delivery people :)

It’s such a great tour Jane! We remember it fondly. Have some goat for me and if they still let you stomp grapes - do it!!

I was on this tour in May. LOVED Portugal! The visit to the cork farm was the highlight for me. Have a great time!

Jane, it sounds wonderful - I am so jealous! And I'm glad to know I'm not the only person who can be excited and terrified at the same time! 🤣

I promise not to ask for your trip report until you've been back at least 2 days! Seriously, you will have an incredible time, I know, and we all can't wait to hear about it!

Yes, meeting up with Forum folk is fun. Recently, Andrea from Sacramento and Barb from Oregon met up with me in Enumclaw WA for the Scottish Highland Gathering and Games. So nice to meet in person what we know from our postings. Have a fabulous trip.

Thanks again, everyone, for joining in my excitement.

Luv2travel, someone commented in a PM the other day that I'm obviously an adventuresome eater. I do try to be, but I draw the limit at foods that actually do make me sick. And much to my regret, goat is one of them. I've had it, I've enjoyed it, it's delicious, but I'll never knowingly eat it again. It took my having it three times to make the connection between the goat and the extremely unpleasant and inconvenient physical reactions.

So I will wave to the goat for you, and urge everyone else to dig in, but I'll pass.

Have a great trip Jane. We haven’t been on a RS tour yet, but we will eventually. Enjoy every aspect of your final preperations as well as the Plane ride. I start getting into vacation mode as soon as I take out my suitcase.

Kim, we're going to be in Paris for about 5 days in early October; if you can steal away for a cup of coffee, PM me or send an email.

And hey, Pam bullies me enough her own self without enlisting help!

Just read your note about getting the tour roster for Portugal. I checked and mine was there too. Another step closer to finally getting to Portugal! Our guide is Claudia.
Maybe we’ll see you at the hotel prior to the tours.
