We will be in Rome a few days early and would like to go on a gondola ride. Any recommendations on getting a reservation. We will be on the 9-day tour starting on April 6th and staying at the Dharma Hotel a few days before.
Thank you, Renee
Do you mean in Venice?
There are no gondolas in Rome.
I think you need to go to Venice for gondola rides. As far as I know there are no gondolas in Rome.
https://www.seat61.com/international-trains/trains-from-Rome.htm#Rome-Italy can help you plan a trip to Venice, but expect it to take all day.
You are probably on the RS Heart of Italy tour (9 days) starting on April 6, which begins in Rome and ends in Florence. If you have the time, you can fly into Venice before the to stay for a couple of days and do the gondola ride. Otherwise, a day trip from Rome to Venice is too far just for a gondola ride. Rome to Venice is a ~4hour ride one way on the fast, non-stop train.
I’ve gone on a gondola ride in Venice twice but several years apart. I rode them as an optional to do organized by the tour guides during my outstanding RS tours. Since there are many watercraft modes of transportation I was underwhelmed. If the opportunity exists work with someone providing this service who can create a unique and memorable experience.

It appears there are “gondolas” in Rome.
Who knew.
I also didn’t know there was a lake in the EUR district of Rome.
If you don’t want an 8-hour 655 km. round-trip day to Venice, I suppose this could substitute.
In addition to the gondola ride, you could try a cooking class or take a Vatican museum tour? Try Viator to see what they offer.
For me, the charm of the gondola ride in Venice was gliding down the tiny canals looking at flower boxes and bridges. The gondola ride itself in a lake doesn’t sound like the same experience. Spend the money on a cooking class or food tour.
