Glasgow, Edinburgh

We are going in the spring to Scotland and Ireland.....we arrive into Glasgow.....does anyone know of a quaint small hotel, centrally located, in Glasgow, and also Edinburgh?

Also we will be heading to St. Andrews....is there a small, quiet, picturesque village between Edinburgh and St. Andrews that you would recommend for walking, good pub, etc.?
thanks so much.....

We loved Grasshoppers.

It is modern and stylish rather than "quaint", but budget-priced, very friendly, and in an excellent central location, adjacent to and above the Glasgow Central train station. It was surprisingly quiet, perhaps due to the upper floor location.

The rooms are small but nicely furnished, and there are free treats on offer in the common room.

If you have a car , the drive from St Andrews south and west along The Forth estuary takes you through the fishing villages of Crail , Pittenweem , St . Monans , and notably Anstruther , which is well worth as much time as you can devote to it . From there it's an easy drive over the Forth road bridge to Edinburgh . https://www.google.com/maps/place/Anstruther,+UK/@56.2220649,-2.6978057,15z/data=!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x4886542ed1ec3177:0x4a75ce6e2c035613!2sAnstruther,+UK!3b1!8m2!3d56.22298!4d-2.700539!3m4!1s0x4886542ed1ec3177:0x4a75ce6e2c035613!8m2!3d56.22298!4d-2.700539
