Getting from Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport to Gare de Bordeaux-Saint-Jean

I'm going on the Basque Country tour this late spring, and am flying into Bordeaux from Amsterdam. Once there, I know that there are several trains a day from Gare de Bordeaux-Saint-Jean to Bayonne, but I'm a bit unclear as to the various easy/cheap ways to get from the airport to the train station. Is there a local bus? A shuttle? I'd rather take public-ish transport than an Uber or a cab.

Also, would it be recommended to get tickets for the train in advance? There are several sites on line that offer them, current rates seem to be about 25-50 EUR (depending on train company and if you get first class). Not sure if these sell out, if it's a hassle to get tickets at the station, or other issues that might present. My gut says "It won't be a problem, just get them at the station" but I want a sanity check.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

arriving and departing there is a bus from the airport that terminate and leaves from Gare de Bordeaux.

Oh and Bordeaux to Bayonne line is served by regional trains or TER. These are frequent and do not sell out or come with a seat reservation compared to the high speed TGV and long distance Intercity IC Trains.

Jazz+Travels - is this obvious to find at the airport, good signage, etc? I know we'll be pretty bleary-eyed when we get there.

A decent number of the trains between Bordeaux and Bayonne are TGVs. They don’t run any faster on that part of the route that the TERs, but may be more conviennent in regard to your desired departure time.
