Germany Tour in December?

We're looking at the last tour in 2024 December tour for Munich/Salzburg/Vienna. Is it too cold to enjoy?

I want to enjoy the Christmas markets but I'm not sure if countryside will be a frozen tundra.

Recommendations are welcomed!

In 2019, we had a great time at the German Xmas markets. It was cold, but we had our layers, and did carry-on only. I'd highly encourage you to have this magical experience. Stay close to the old town areas, so you can return to the hotels for a mid-day break. Book lodging asap, especially for the weekends. I found that many places were fully booked by June! Safe travels!

What’s too cold? For our friends in Austin, TX, below 60° is cold! You will have a wonderful time as December is a great month to be in Germany & Austria!

Thanks so much for your reply! I'm a Florida girl so I can relate to your Austin friend. Here in the south it just gets cold and evetything turns brown and yucky. So if it snows I'll be happy!

Thanks
Becky

It will be cold for you. I hope it snows for you rather than rain which is what we mainly had

I did that tour Nov/Dec 2017, and yes it was cold for this PA person, but really enjoyable. The highlight was probably that it snowed in Hallstatt.
