German Train Pass Advice

My wife and I (both over 65) will be in Germany for 16 days in September. We are setting up ‘home bases’ in Munich, Berlin and Bacharach, so we have specific travel dates between those cities. We fly into Munich and depart from Frankfurt.

Deutschland Ticket (D-Ticket) – thanks to other Q & A in this forum, this pass seems like a no brainer. I have used the DB app and website for our expected excursions (e.g. from the Munich Airport to downtown, within Berlin, from Berlin to Potsdam, and even from Bacharach to the Frankfurt Airport) and D-Ticket covers them all. So, am I missing a negative for the D-Ticket somehow?

German Rail Twin Pass vs. Sparpreis Senior – the two trips we want to be on an ICE for time’s sake, is Munich to Berlin, and Berlin to Bacharach. I had thought the Twin Pass (3 days for $440 for two) would give us flexibility and ease of use. But since we only need the two trips (I’ve double checked Bacharach to Frankfurt Airport, and since there’s a great regional connection it’s covered by a D-Ticket), the cost for both us for both trips would be $350 for Sparpreis Senior. So, is it worth saving the $90 or is there other benefits that I am missing with the Twin Pass?

Thanks for your help!

Based on some time ago, and not checking the Bahn website for now, I don't think there are many long distance trains on the Rhein gorge route, probably none that call on Bacharach. You'd probably have to go to Koblenz (a lot of back-tracking) and even then, the express trains would be few and far between.

No, I think the regional option is good, and the D-ticket would cover it.
