Is the free time enough to warrant bringing a bathing suit on this tour? Hoping/expecting warm weather. We are carry-on packers and try to minimize clothing on these trips.

I remember a free afternoon in Evora and the hotel had a pool. When you get your list of hotels, you could check if they have pools. There are several days with free afternoons.

Our hotel in the Douro Valley had a pool. I went swimming and so did a number of the people on my tour.

In addition to the above two suggestions, you will have the whole day in Nazare, which has a big beach with BIG waves. So that might be another opportunity.
