Finding ATMs on Southern Italy tour

I know that it's easy to find bancomats in places like Rome, Sorrento, and Naples, and probably Positano, but are they in the smaller towns that are the first part of the tour? Ideally, I prefer BNL to avoid extra fees since that is a BOA partner, but with what a trip costs, the extra $5 a few times probably doesn't really matter!

We usually are looking for ATMs at local banks. And the larger grocery stores also have ATMs in Italy.
Anytime we can use a credit card when traveling we use it. That means we seldom have to use ATM cards on our trips except for walking around cash. And we just don't spend very much cash.

We took that tour this past May. We had no trouble finding money anywhere. The first thing we do when we arrive at FCO and walk out of the inner protected area is to walk straight to the ATM which is just outside the doors (and then to get a SIM card which is the same area). My husband will only use ATMs owned by major banks. When traveling we use our Charles Schwab card for both cash and credit since there are no transaction fees associated with it. We get a couple hundred euro at a time, replenish whenever we are running low, and charge whenever we can. It is a great trip but then all 3 of our RS trips, while different, have all been wonderful.

We also prefer to use a credit card wherever possible, but sometimes in smaller places, they aren't accepted. Did you find that most places on the tour did take cards?

And we also prefer to use ATMs of major banks, preferably at a location where the bank is open, just in case there's a problem with the machine.

We were amazed to discover in Iceland that cards were accepted for everything, no matter how small. We had heard that before we left, and never got any local currency--the first time that's happened!

You won’t have any problem finding bank-owned ATMs in smaller towns. After all, Italians use them too; they’re not there just for the tourists. And, the South Italy tour actually begins in Rome, so you can get your initial funds there.

On all my tours, the tour guides knew where bank ATMs could be found near your hotel. Tour guides are a wealth of local information other than the sites you visit. Make use of their knowledge and it’ll add to your experience.

Thanks for asking the question. I was just looking up locations of ATMs in those same towns. (Same tour, but in May 2019)
