"Festival of Europe" shows are in HD if viewed on YouTube once posted

We watched a live episode from the "Festival of Europe" and the video quality wasn't that great due to what I think are the Zoom platform limitations. A day or two later an email showed up that said "If you'd like to re-watch the event or send the video recording to a friend, please visit www.ricksteves.com/tours/festival-of-europe. The latest video should be uploaded within the next few days."

When following the link it turns out you can choose to watch the video on YouTube instead of the RS website, and on YouTube you can watch in HD!

So I guess we'll miss knowing we're watching future presentations live with thousands of other fans around the country, but by waiting a day or two we'll get much better video quality. I thought I'd pass this along in case others are interested in watching the show in HD.

Thanks, John. There are episodes that I won't be able to watch live with the thousands of fans, so the YouTube option (and HD) will be useful.

This helps, thank you! We couldn’t get this past Monday’s Zoom program to connect, and missed the kick-off episode. We’re looking forward to tonight’s Scandinavia presentation, but waiting for the HD option is an alternative.

So, you’re to blame, John, for the recent delay in the posting of the new videos. 😊

I think because it was the weekend and then Monday was a holiday no new videos were posted. I expect later today they will get caught up and post the post the last 4. I think Spain was on Thursday and that was the last one posted on Friday.

I have been really been enjoying these so I was a little disappointed there were no new ones posted over the weekend. But, I guess we can’t fault their tech person for taking the weekend off. 😊

Thanks, John! I was going to watch the Scotland episode tonight but now I might just wait and watch it on YouTube. I really hate watching low res stuff on Zoom.
