EU announcement about possibilities for travel to Europe

An article just appeared in the New York Times regarding moves by the EU to allow vaccinated travelers into to Europe as early as this summer. I've pasted the link below, but I'm not sure if those without a NYT subscription can open it. It's the first indication I've seen that makes me just slightly optimistic that travel to Europe my actually be possible later this year, although that doesn't mean I would go for it. But it's nice to think it could be an option . . . if we human beings play our cards right . . . and if "vaccine hesitancy" doesn't derail our scientific progress.

I probably jumped the gun by posting this to the "Rick Steves Tours" thread. I subsequently discovered that there is already a lively discussion going on regarding this NYT article in the "Destination Q&A - General Europe" area.

I read this too and would love some clarity before booking our Europe tix for this fall.

BenH, at least yours doesn’t have the confrontational vibe that seems to have developed on the “lively” one. And now, another thread has come up regarding Rick’s tours, and what months are/aren’t taking reservations right now. Your optimism from the news definitely seems valid, although Rick’s tours might be waiting a bit longer, and might not be the in the first wave of visits.
