I will have 3 night 2 full days in Venice before Rich Steve Best of Italy in 17 days tour. will Murano or Burano worth visiting?
We spent half a day in Burano and thoroughly enjoyed it. Instead of taking the vaporetto all the way to Burano, we got off at the stop before, which is "Mazzorbo". From there, it is a lovely, short walk through a vineyard, and across the bridge to Burano. I can recommend that you enjoy lunch at "Da Primo" which is a family owned restaurant with great food, and even better service.
We enjoyed visiting Burano for dinner (El Gato Nero, sitting outside.) Also consider a walk through the cemetery on San Michele, the island between Venice proper and Murano. It's a cool and quiet respite from the crowds, with some famous people's graves (Stravinsky, Diaghilev, Ezra Pound.)
On my last visit to Venice, I enjoyed my day trip out to both islands. You could do it in a shorter time frame, but we wanted to take it slow & savor the visit. I liked Burano and the colorful houses & lacemakers the best.
I enjoyed both islands. My daughter got a great photo at Burano.
Also consider a walk through the cemetery on San Michele,
If memory serves there was an episode of the Endeavour TV series that had scenes in that cemetery at night. I'd like to see it the next time we're in Venice
We went to Murano one year, and I’ve taken my two adult daughters to Burano on separate trips. Yes, they’re worth visiting. If only time for one, hands down I would pick Burano.
Both, if you have the time. For me, the colorful architecture of Burano offered great photo ops. Murano was less interesting. If glass is your thing, Murano could be a must-see.
I love both of these islands --- but if I only had 2 days in Venice, I'd stay in Venice. There is SO much to see & do there.
We loved both islands, but I agree with the above post. With only two full days, you will barely touch Venice. I would spend those two days in Venice. We have gone to Venice twice, and still have not seen it all.
I agree with what ChinaLake and Gelato Girl said.
