COVID-19 & Train Travel

Apologies if this has already been asked in a similar fashion. I was hoping to do a multi-EU member state trip, staying in three countries & doing day trips into two others. Does anyone know if I would need to provide PRC tests whenever I crossed over the border via train? When I tried looking up the information online, anything mentioning about non-EU citizens left me with that impression. Thank you in advance.

Apologies, I was hoping there was an EU standard policy when it came to train travel. I was planning on staying in Luxembourg, doing at least one day trip into Germany and one day trip into France. I was then going to stay to Belgium and finally stay in the Netherlands.

You need to look up each country’s Covid policy. There isn’t one policy for all of Europe. We’re going to 4 different countries this summer and that’s what we had to do.

I’ve traveled by train between all the countries you mention (+ 3 more) within the last few weeks (with the exception of Luxembourg) and there was nothing required when crossing borders (similar to pre-pandemic).

Thank you so much for the first hand info Min! I figured that it wouldn't make sense for people on the trains to have to present COVID test results whenever they crossed from one EU state to the next, especially when you have some people doing it twice a day for work, I'm just a bit paranoid as this would be my first overseas trip since the pandemic.

Ellisc66, thank you for your suggestion as well. I'm sure the COVID entry criteria for each country will definitely come into play for those places I spend on staying over in. Fingers crossed none of us will see mandatory arrival quarantines come back in time for our trips. Enjoy your journey!

At this time you still need to fill out a Passenger Locator Form for Belgium. No Covid test needed.

@ erik_novak np!

In regards to the Belgium PLF - I entered Belgium via train from Germany and as I understood from the Sherpa site, the PLF was not required. Although in retrospect, perhaps would have been better to have completed to be on the safe side.

I entered Belgium from France and felt the Belgium government site indicated I needed to fill out a PLF. I did and received an email the day after my arrival indicating I needed to do nothing further - no testing or quarantine which is what I expected. I traveled on April 28 after having been in France for 16 nights.

@Pam Thank you so much for the additional information. Thanks to the information you and the others on this thread have provided, I'm feeling much better about actually committing to this trip. Have a great day!
