We will be going on the Basque tour in October which ends in Bilbao. We would like to extend the stay 2-3 days at the end of the tour. Does anyone have suggestions on sites to see fairly close to Bilbao that would justify staying the extra days? John

We stayed in Hondarribia near San Sebastián, on the border with France. We enjoyed visiting the charmingFrench Basque villages in the foothills of the Pyrenees such as Epellette, Ascain, Ainhoa and Saré. They each have a pelota count in the center of town. The houses are traditional Basque style, white with red trim, roofs coming down to near the ground. We would like to return and stay in Saré or Ainhoa.
