Hi
If I book a tour for 2020 and can't travel, what are the cancellation rules?
Thanks
Madhu
Hi, Madhu. These details are under the FAQ at the bottom of the page: https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-help/tours-faq
What is your cancellation policy?
The $400 tour deposit is fully refundable for 30 days from the date it is received (or until your final payment due date, whichever comes first). See our Tour Conditions for full details.
Hi Madhu. This happened to me this year. I booked the Village Italy tour for April but was diagnosed with cancer in January. Fortunately I had taken travel insurance through Travel Guard when I booked the tour. It took awhile & there is a ridiculous amount of paperwork to submit with this insurance company, but eventually I got all of my money back. I had already booked my flight on American & had purchased insurance through them when I purchased the ticket. American partners with Allianz & that process for getting reimbursed was much easier. There are many insurance companies that provide travel insurance- some have a “cancel for any reason” option. Just do your research. You usually have to purchase the insurance 14 days from the time you sign up for a tour ( I think). It definitely gives you some piece of mind. Good luck.
