Bye, Bye, Tour Credits?

In the most recent statement of 2026 terms of travel this is stated

"Tour credits: For all tours set to depart after January 1, 2026, we will no longer offer tour credits. All credits previously awarded will be governed by the RSE Tour Credit Terms and Conditions."

I can only assume this means starting next year past tour participants will no longer be able to get a tour cost reduction of $50 per tour taken. Am I mistaken? Does anyone understand what the second sentence is trying to convey or say? Why not just state no longer will there be a $50 credit and end it there. Is there some other tour credit that is hidden in the contractual "weds". I am not upset. It is his business. Nothing is forever.

I read and understood this the same way as LIZ does. We booked two tours back to back for June 2026 and our previous tour alum credits were applied to both of them.

On the page linked in prior response it says this:

Refunds Will Be Issued as Refunds (Not as Credit)

If you cancel your
tour for a reason that's covered by our refund policy, we'll return
those funds to you rather than issuing a credit. (Tour deposits become
nonrefundable after 30 days, unless otherwise noted.) Of course, if
you have a credit from a previous tour season (including 2025), you'll
still be able to apply them to future bookings until the originally
set expiration date.

This has nothing to do with the alumni discount, which is still offered (read under "tour reservations" section) https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-help/tours-faq

Hi all, just popping in as staff to confirm: Yes, the alumni discount is absolutely still in place! What’s ending in 2026 is the option to receive a tour credit (instead of a refund) if you cancel. That’s totally separate from the $50 alumni discount, which continues to be automatically applied for each tour taken prior to the departure year for returning tour members.
