We are planning on taking public transportation from Bled to Munich after our RS Central Europe tour ends. Looked at possibly getting a car (Uber?) or taxi hire from Bled to Villach (about 45min), and then train from Villach to Munich Centrale. Any who have done, is this the best way?
Any other ideas or suggestions? Thank you.
Back in 2015 I took a bus in the opposite direction, from Munich to Ljubljana. I don't know how the travel time by bus compares to other ways of getting to Munich, including your idea of connecting from some sort of private driver to the train in Villach.
Quite a few posters here have used a GoOpti shuttle to get to and from Slovenia. I don't know whether GoOpti serves Munich, but it's worth checking. I haven't read any negative comments on this forum about GoOpti. As I understand it, the company offers both private shuttles on your preferred schedule and less-expensive shared shuttles at their chosen times, which I think you don't find out about very far in advance. Perhaps Villach is a destination served by GoOpti even if Munich is not.
I wonder whether there will be other tour members trying to get to Munich on the same day you are--people with whom you could split the cost of private transportation.
You can get a train from Bled Jezero, or Lesce-Bled to Villach and connect to the train to Munich.
Hi. No need for separate transportation to Villach. Just take easy 10 minute bus from one of two stops in Bled to the Lesce-Bled station, then train from there to Munich; either with one connection, or it looks like there is a train around noon that is direct.
I would also suggest checking out whether flying might be most efficient for this route, as the Ljubljana airport is not far from Lake Bled and there are nonstop flights to Munich.
It is 1 hour to Ljubljana Airport, arrive 2 hours before flight, 1 hour in the air, then another hour to get into Munich. That is 5 hours. Exactly the the same travel time as Lesce-Bled to Munich by train, with much less hassle.
Thank you all for great suggestions and options. Seems going to Bled-Lesce train station and on to Villach and then Munich is a great way to go, and will give us views of the Austrian countryside as we transit over. Much appreciated all!
. Ljubljana's airport is just 30 minutes away, and there are nearby train connections to Munich, Vienna, and other European cities. Whatever your plans, your guide will help you get on the right track

And if you need you can figure it out during the tour.
