Arriving in Venice a day early...First visit to Venice/Italy...We have until 4 pm of the day the tour starts...Looking for a recommendation as to what to visit/see that is not on the tour...Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions...Raf
I did this tour last May, your going to have a great time!! I would visit the Doge's Palace (next to St. Marks) because it is not part of the tour and the palace is amazing. Hint: If the line is long to get tickets then go straight across St. Marks Square and there is another museum at the opposite side that sells tickets for both Doge's palace and that museum. Also you could go up to the top of the tower next to St. Marks for a great view of Venice. Another adventure would be to go to the Rialto market and bridge. I've been to Europe many times and this tour was the best, the day you spend in Tuscany will be a backdoor experience you'll never forget.
Best tour that Rick Steves offers. Elizabetta in Venice and Francesca in Rome are fantastic!!!
Just wander around in Venice and see what you can see. Throw away whatever maps that you might have. They are worthless.
Make sure you have some mosquito spray for Venice. Not kidding and have PLENTY.
