Best of the Eastern Europe tour

For those who have been on the Best of the Eastern Europe tour -- when did you go and what kind of weather did you experience on the tour? I am trying to gage when a good time of year is good to go. Since I can go at any time, I avoid the summer, being more crowded with school out and being hotter than in the spring or fall. Is there a time of year that may be better to go on this tour. Weather is unpredicatable but would like to know when it may be the best time to go. Thank you.

Hi. I went in mid-September. The weather was generally pretty mild.....not particularly hot. Did have a few days of misty rain, but nothing serious. Great trip with many fond memories! Enjoy

Went in September, wore light jacket when needed. Only 1/2 day of rain! It's a great tour!

We went from September 10-27th . The weather was great. Very warm during first few days in Prague but very pleasant throughout the rest of tour. I hope you get Katka as your tour guide. She is great!

Thank you every one. Seems like September it is then! Not this year, but in the very near future. I did have Katka on my week long Prague tour when she was learning to be a guide for RS she was an assistant guide. Lovely woman, I do hope I get her for this tour!
I have been told by other tour members to take this tour so it is high on my list. So nice to hear everyone loved this tour!

I cant speak to the tour, just the weather. We travel to Budapest three times a year and the mid-September to early-October trip is always the most anticipated because of the weather and the things to do. I've looked at the tour and its a tad bit rushed. You can do anything to get more time in Budapest unless you back track, but you could get to Prague a day early and I think that would be a good investment.

Thank you James, yes, it seems that is a good time of year to go. Yes, I always get to the starting point at least a day before. I love Prague, went on the RS week long tour of Prague when he had that tour! Looking forward to go back to Prague. I agee I would love to spend more time in Budapest!

Yep, I went in September also, the last two weeks to be exact. For the most part the weather was great. Needed an umbrella for a few hours on a couple different days, very hot in Prague, but for the most part, about what we have here in the Mid-West in September. Have a great time, I loved it.

I went in 2016 on the tour that went from late May through the first week of June. Weather was mostly great except for one monsoon day in Prague (we got soaked to the skin on our first walking tour) and it was a tad hot in Budapest, but bearable, although I'm pretty used to the California heat. Sounds like the fall is getting a lot of votes, but I thought the weather was great for us too. I wonder if the waterfalls in Plitvice would be as spectacular in the fall as they were for us in the spring/early summer. I live near Yosemite and I know that if you go up there in the fall thinking you're going to see waterfalls you'll be very disappointed. But it could be totally different in Croatia for all I know.

As to the guide, we had Peter and he was fabulous. You'll be in great hands if you get him too. He was just the right mix of historical knowledge, organizational skills and humor. The tour ran like a well oiled machine, but I never felt like we were simply being herded around. It's definitely an amazing tour and I know you'll have a wonderful time.

I'm anxiously reading all the posts here. This tour is on my "list" and for the most part, I say spring and fall are usually the best times for us, anyway. I can't take the heat like I used to when I was a younger gal and the crowds of summer aren't usually my favorite, either. I love jacket weather here in the midwest!
