Best of Switz or Similar Alums

Hi. Has anyone who has taken the Best of Switz or MyWay Alpine or GAS availed themselves of saunas and/or pools in the alpine areas? I am trying to determine the need to bring swimwear for my upcoming tour. The hotel in Lugano has a pool, but I am not sure it will be warm enough to swim or whether we will have time. Thanks for any replies.

The nice thing about a swimsuit is it doesn't weigh much or take up space. You can get towels locally.

Much easier than having to buy a suit if you need one.

Hi Debbie:

I took the best of Switzerland tour this year but went in late May, early June so no swimming. To wet any rainy!! However, there is sports center in Murrin and one of our tour members went there for a massage and they have a pool. The hotel there actually had sauna and the hotel in Engelberg also had a sauna. You can certainly make time to use the pools and saunas as all stops have free time. I did not because there were so many other things to do.

I have also gone on the GAS tour and went to the Frederiksberg (naked) spa in Baden Baden and while it was way out of my comfort zone, I would not have missed it for the world and it was one of the highlights of the trip. They also have another spa where there are outside pools and and several of the tour members went there.

If you think you may swim, pack a suit. As the other poster has said it does not take up much room. Or, you can buy one there and have it as a souvenir of your trip.

Suggest taking a swimsuit, although if on the GAS tour and visiting the Friedrichsbad Spa no need. A combination walking short/swimsuit works well for guys.

Thanks, folks. Tomorrow is my final packing day so I suppose I will make the "cut" then. Since I don't have a swimsuit I am fond of, maybe I will just wing it.

Hi Debbie, which tour are you taking? Please report back and let us know how it goes. I really appreciate the info that others provide (thanks, Barbara!) about the hotels and amenities. Have a great trip!

Hi. I am taking the Best of Switzerland that begins on Monday the 18th. I will try to report back when I am home. I have a Nook with me, but may not be online too often.

I took the GAS tour 3 summers ago and went to the spa in Baden Baden. The clothing optional part is only upstairs, out of the way of curious eyes. It's entirely possible to visit the spa and have a good time fully clothed. There are saunas, jacuzzis, and swim pools down stairs. In fact, it's such a beautiful building and completely unique that I would highly recommend it.
