Our best of Spain tour does a day trip to segovia from madrid.
For those who have done this tour, what time does the tour get back to Madrid?
Rick's description says "Then we'll return to Madrid in time for you to enjoy dinner on your own."
In Madrid, that could be 8 pm.
I want to book a zarzuela for that evening that starts at 8 pm. So I need some real world experience on what time you got back to Madrid

I was on that wonderful tour in 2016, so my experience would be dated information. Unless a participant from this year’s tour responds here, I suggest you contact RS staff to see if they can tell you. Given what you quote, I doubt the arrival back in Madrid would be anywhere close to 8 pm, but that’s just my sense of it. Some RS travelers stick to earlier dinner times than the locals. A highlight of the visit to Segovia is the suckling pig luncheon, so dinner becomes a low priority that day!
Derek, we did this tour in the spring and loved it. We had a huge group lunch in the early afternoon, and were back in Madrid around 5-ish. It would be plenty of time for your show. I don't think anyone had room for dinner that evening. You could grab a few tapas before or after if you thought you needed to eat. There are plenty of places for that, including Hotel Europa, if that's where you stay.
