Best of Spain any advice on pre & post travel days?

Any advice on what to see and do before & after the Best of Spain tour? I have a few days in Spain before & after the tour. I have some general plans for the few days before the tour but have not made any plans for post tour. I have 7 full days post tour.

I am on the Oct 19 tour; anyone else booked on that trip?

Any advice is appreciated.

June,

We're signed up for the Sept. 26 tour and plan to spend four days post tour in Spain. Since the tour doesn't go to Córdoba, we're going there for 2 nights right after the tour ends, and we're then returning to Seville for two nights and flying home from there. I've read so many good things about Seville that I think an additional 2 days there will be great. Also, it's easier to fly home from Seville than training to Madrid and flying home from there (which I originally thought we would have to do.)

This will be our first RS tour and we're really looking forward to it. Hope you enjoy your tour!

With a whole week, you could head to a completely different region, such as the northwest. For instance, train from Seville to Pamplona takes 6 hours with one connection. It would be even faster and cheaper to fly from Seville to Bilbao on Vueling or other budget carrier; see also www.skyscanner.com. Then you'd ideally fly home from a northern city, rather than backtracking.

Pre-tour. I enjoy extra time in Barcelona. If you love art and architecture, there are two Gaudi homes to tour in Barcelona. They are quite something. Also, there's Picasso's home a train ride away, as well as Salvador Dali's wild and crazy museum.

June,

I agree with a previous suggestion to spend extra time in Barcelona for the pre-tour portion. There's a lot to see there, and some good day trip possibilities (details in the guidebook). Post tour you could always spend more time in Sevilla or other locations in the south, or head north as Laura suggested. There are all kinds of possibilities.

Thanks everyone for advice. There are so many possibilities! I now have to hit the books to plan the post tour dates. I might venture to Cordoba and Salamanca and perhaps extra time in Madrid and Seville.
