Best of SIcily (off season) what is not cover in Palermo's visit

Dear Fellow travelers,
This is going to be our first time taking a RS tour and I would like to ask to those who already took the Sicilian tour which were the places that were not covered during the visit in Palermo. I know that our tour will start in Palermo but it looks like we'll be in Palermo for one day. This is our first time in Sicily and we are arriving in Palermo a day ahead, so I will like to cover on my own the things/places that the RS tour will not cover.
If you have taken that tour would you please share your input?
Thanks

steve,

According to the information page for that tour......

"If you arrive in Sicily before your tour begins, use your Sicily guidebook to get oriented. Ride the public transportation, try out a few words of Italian, and get over your jet lag with lots of fresh air and exercise. Here are suggestions for sightseeing in Palermo that we do not do as a group: Cappella Palatina; Teatro Massimo (closed Mondays); Marionette Museum; Museo Archeologico Regionale A. Salinas; Palazzo Abatellis; Capuchin Crypt; Palazzo Mirto; Galleria D’Arte Moderna (GAM)."

The walking tours provided by the tour cover quite a few historic sites, and as I recall you'll also have some time on your own after the walking tours to do a bit of exploring.

I went on the Sicily tour last month--it was fabulous! We arrived in Palermo two days ahead of time. I highly recommend the Capella Palatina--try to go early in the day. The Inquisition Museum was very interesting, as is a tour of Teatro Massimo. We went to the opera one evening there--such a treat!

Well, these should fill,up your pre-tour time! We enjoyed Palermo a lot.
