Best of Sicily March 26th

In a few days we are leaving for Palermo for the RS Best of Sicily tour. We've added 2 nights to start. Can anyone tell me what restaurant the tour will be using for our first night welcome dinner. Since we'll be there for 2 extra nights, I wanted to make sure to chose other restaurants.

Thanks,
Cindy in NJ

Hi Cindy,

Our tour stayed at the Hotel Ambasciatori and we ate at the hotel’s outdoor rooftop restaurant. The food was wonderful as was the view. Of course, if the weather is not conducive to eating outside your guess is as good as mine where you will be going. If you are looking for places to eat outside of the tour, there are plenty of them on the main pedestrianized street in Palermo. Again these restaurants are sidewalk eateries.

The Ambasciatori restaurant has indoor seating, too. I ate there my one pre-tour day and did not regret that.

Last fall on this tour we also stayed at the Ambasciatori and had our introductory meeting on the rooftop. Our group dinner that nite was elsewhere after a 30 minute or so orientation walk in the adjoining Vucciria market area. You could call the Rick Steves office to see if they know where the first dinner will be but my belief is guides have flexibility to choose group restaurants; where another group ate dinner may not be where yours does.

We ate at the Ferro Di Cavallo which was about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Ambasciatori. I am sure the hotel can make reservations and give directions. We ate there twice.

I was on this tour at few months ago at the end of October and we stayed at the Ambasciatori and our first dinner was on the rooftop terrace of the hotel. It was wonderful and in my opinion this was the best meal of the whole trip! I'm vegetarian and this really was a great meal!
Happy travels!
