Best of Scotland tour-laundry opportunities

Those of you who have taken this tour, at what stops were your best laundry opportunities (either laundrettes or laundry service)? It really helps me pack light if I know the number of days before the next time I can send out or do laundry. I do undies in the room and sometimes easy dry clothes, but most of my outerwear is better if done in a washer. As a 6 time RS tour veteran I wish they would let us know this information pre-tour instead of at the first night meeting. Maybe I should suggest that.

My one-bag system includes doing a quick lather and rinse nightly of whatever needs washing. Everything is Usually dry by morning. Many of the accommodations are for two nights so plenty of time for stuff to dry. It’s a habit and, when opportunity avails, a serious laundry run only means just one quick load.

I just did this tour in June and the major laundry stop was Inverness. Our guide worked it so the bus stopped on our way out of town the day we did Clava Cairn and Cawdor Castle, then dropped people off in the afternoon on our way back. People walked back home with their clean laundry.

I don't know if every guide/drive does this as it was right in the middle of the road and coming back to the hotel from that location was awkward for the bus.

Here is a googlemap link with the location. We stayed in Glenmoriston Hotel.

Thanks, Ed and Pam. That was precisely the information I needed.

The first and last stop for the Scotland tour is the Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh. They have unbelievably large bathtubs! We traveled before and after the RS trip so I was able to get the hand laundry easily done before and after.

Actually our first and last tour hotel was The Brooks hotel in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh. No bathtubs in any of the 3 rooms I stayed in but that doesn’t deter me from doing hand washes!!

Thank you for this excellent information! I had just gone on to ask the same question, as I plan my packing based on when I will be able to do laundry. I have tried the "wash in the sink" routine, and it does not work for me.
