Question for previous members of recent Best of Scandinavia tours - Were there any easy spots to do Bestlaundry - not counting the sink in your room? On other tours in different areas certain hotels have made available a" fill the bag" for a set price laundry option for a two day stop. Or if there is a self-serve laundry that you remember close to tour hotels?
Thank you for any answers.
Hello,
Most homes and apartments in Scandinavia have laundries in their buildings, so unfortunately, public laundries are more scarce here than in other destinations. We have tried to make arrangements with several of the tour hotels, but they all want to charge a hefty per-piece fee, so I'd only use a hotel as a last resort. I was on the Scandinavia tour myself last summer and the best option was in Copenhagen. You will have free time on both afternoons there. The two closest laundries to the tour hotel (Hotel Bethel in Nyhavn) were Møntvask, Gasværksvej 2 1656 Copenhagen (about a 35 min. walk or 10 min. taxi or Uber ride away) or The Laundromat Café, Århusgade 38, 2100 København, Denmark (a 50 min. walk or 10 min. taxi/Uber ride). There is also a place in Ærøskøbing, but it wasn't working when I was there and from what I understand, it's not the best option.
I did laundry in Oslo a few years ago at Café Laundromat, Underhaugsveien 2, 0354 Oslo (a short tram ride away), but your time in Oslo during the tour is so limited, so it wouldn't be your best option. I stayed at the City Box Hotel, in Bergen after the tour, which has a washer & dryer available for guest use in the hotel (for a fee). You can also ask your tour guide at the beginning of the tour for other options.
We were on this tour in July 2025. The options for laundry are extremely limited. One of the hotels had a service which was very expensive ($4 one pair of underwear.) The only local laundromat we found was in Bergen, the last stop of the tour.
On this tour June 2025, yes, no laundry. We managed just fine with hand washing and generously supplied fans in hotels which dried our laundry overnight. We also packed clothing that was easily washable and easy to dry. Do some test runs before you leave to pick the easy dry options. Why spend your vacation going to a laundromat?
A Google search brought up Laundry in Æro. I don't know if this is still an option.
I did this tour in May 2023 and did laundry at Clean Kokos in Oslo, which was recommended by our guide Gabriela. It was a pleasant 25 minute walk from the Thon Hotel Cecil. I had to install the app Appwash by Miele to use the machines and managed to figure it out with the help of others using the laundromat. There aren't many machines so it's a risk taking your stuff up there, as you may have to wait. I'd have done my laundry on Ærøskøbing, but Gabriela said it didn't have a drier (?) or that the drier wasn't very reliable.
