Best of Munich, Salzburg, Vienna Questions

Hi. Can any alums of this tour describe the planned activities in Munich and Neuschwanstein? I am very familiar with Munich and have been to Hohenschwangau more than once. I have some ideas on how I would like to spend some of my time and wonder if those sync with the planned activities.

In Hohenschwangau, are tickets provided for Neuschwanstein? How much time is spent in this neck of the woods? I would love it if I had time to nip into the Alpenrose restaurant there.

What was the introductory walk/dinner like in Munich? The Krampuslauf is at 3PM the first day of this (December) tour, and the group is meeting at 4 in the hotel, so I am trying to work out logistics.

Decisions, decisions. I will be in Munich a few days ahead of time and have a long list of possibilities!

Thanks for any info. Debbie

Debbie,
WE did this tour last holiday season. It was so much fun to have the added benefit of the Christmas Markets! Tickets to the castle and its guided tour are included (they were last year). There isn't enough time afterwards to eat at that restaurant, though. If you've already done the castle then you could skip it and go to the restaurant instead on your own. Make sure it's open! We were there until 13:30 if memory serves me. I have detailed notes at home.

Thanks, Kathy. I just looked in the What's Included section and see the Neuschwanstein tour listed. This event is described as in the afternoon for this year's tour. I will just play it by ear. I am going to try to get most of my wish-list visits in before the tour - creche museum, Dallmayr, etc.

Dallmyr is wonderful! We did this one evening after tour activities were over. You will probably want to hit the christmas markets too. Our favorite was the Medieval market which was more difficult to figure out where it was located. I think we hit at least 5 markets in Munich! If you email the RS tour folks they can better guide you regarding what times you will be done with the day's activities. I did this on our first Vienna night because we wanted to get tickets for the Philharmonic. It turns out it didn't work for that night so we went after the tour was over. I see your tour includes a tour of the Opera House in Vienna. We did this on our own as it wasn't included. This is not to be missed!

Thanks, Kathy.

I have the Medieval fair mapped, and the creche museum, and the hotel, and the Krampuslauf. I am very excited. I don't know much at all about Vienna. I would love to hear some Schrammelmuzik, but it might not be the right time of year - summer?

I have started walking to my office on the 7th floor to train for the walk up to Neuschwanstein.
