Best of Munich, Salzburg & Vienna October

Hi travel buddies - we are arriving in Munich a day early & staying at Hotel Blauer Bock since there wasn't room early where our RS tour begins - anyone good recommendations for eating / seeing?

Am interested in the tower at St Peters church since the view overlooks the Alps & understand it's within walking distance from our hotel.

Many thanks -

obviously Rick has several recommendations, as would Fodors and Frommers and Tripadvisor. there are also a lot of Youtube travel vlogs about Munich.

I would contact the tour company and find out what is on the itinerary while you’re in Munich, so you don’t repeat places/restaurants. Your hotel is in a good location, so you should have tons of options. My recommendation would be the Hofbrauhaus for dinner if you want a lively bierhall experience, but not if you’ll be going as part of the tour. Or the Ratskeller for a quieter dinner in a beautiful setting.

I wouldn’t feel rushed to try to get a view of the alps from central Munich, you’ll see better views later!

Thanks so much -

So we’ll be fresh off the plane – from experience know I’m jazzed & husband is tired but we aren’t going to sleep until it’s sleep time!

I don’t think I’ll be able to wait to see the Alps – know that we are going to be in them in Austria – but still…

Husband found a map with highlights around the hotel – just wondering about folks wonderful personal recommendations close to our hotel: Hotel Blauer Bock

Altes Hachenhaus is a classic brewhaus within walking distance of the Blauer Bock. Also like Gaststatte Nurnberger Bratwurst Glockl am Dom, a little longer walk in the opposite direction. Probably need to make a phone call ahead to be sure you get a table at either..
