Best of Ireland June 26-July 9

We just got our travel info for the upcoming trip. Is there anyone out there also going and willing to connect before the trip? We've travelled to Italy and France on our own and this will be our first formal "tour". Also would love some feedback from recent travelers who took this tour!

I did the tour last June, starting in the 2nd week of June. It was surprisingly hot for us which was unusual so check the weather a week out from your trip and adjust your packing list as needed. We arrived a couple of days ahead of the tour and spent a whole day doing a tour out to Newgrange and Hill of Tara.

On the RS tour we had Stephen McPhilemy for our guide and he was wonderful. I have never laughed so hard as I did at his stories, mostly of his early guide days. If Stephen is your guide, take extra packets of Kleenex because you will laugh to the point of tears every day.

In Kinsale, if the weather is nice, walk back to town from Charles Fort. It is a lovely walk.

In Dingle on the free day, I enjoyed doing Rick's walk out to the lighthouse that is in the guide book. In retrospect, I would have packed a lunch and taken some water to sit out there and look at the harbor, the sea, the sky!

I also would have packed a lunch on the Slea Head Drive day as I did not have as much time as I wanted at the Great Blasket Center, however I was traveling with 4 family members so that was a factor.

We had dense fog at both Cliffs of Moher and Giant's Causeway which was a disappointment, but nothing Stephen could do about that.

Wishing you fair weather and a terrific tour!
