We're going on the Eastern Europe tour in June, and I just received notice that my tour kit is available. The current guidebook is the edition from 2017. A revision is due in June. I wonder more precisely when the revision will be available. I want to go with the latest edition but I need to order the kit early enough so that I have it for the tour. Does someone at Rick Steves Tours know?
Although this forum is monitored by a RS webmaster, this isn’t the type of topic you will find answered here. Your best bet is to phone the RS office to ask.
I am in a similar situation. They ship from the Seattle area so my orders have always come in about 4 days after I placed them. My plan is to wait until about two weeks or so before my tour date and then place my order. In the interim I’ve done my basic research using the old version from the library.
I had a similar issue with one of my tours this year and called them, though the timeline was not as tight. They said they always send the latest edition out for tours so you would probably get the new one, but I would call just to double check.
Call the office to get a precise date. Chances are your guide and the rest of your tour mates will be using the older version, given the timing of your tour.
If Amazon gets it in time, Prime might get it to you more quickly.
Books can arrive earlier than promised, like perhaps the last week of May instead of June, but I think it's too soon for us to have any more specific info.
Thanks all...I got my tour kit, and the book is the 2017 version. I'm studying the book now, and studying the book is getting me psyched for the trip.
